I saw something quite yummy on TV the other day.
A Holiday Season punch made with fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and cranberry juice and some light rose type wine. The special twist was the syrup base made from water, sugar and green tea bags. By infusing the green tea bags in the syrup the overall health benefit explodes. You can make quantities to suit yourself.
Make the syrup – equal parts sugar and water, bring to the boil, stir till the sugar is dissolved – infuse with at least two green tea bags. Allow to cool – this is important – you don’t want to “cook” the berries.
Rinse the fresh berries, and cut the raspberries and blueberries in half and quarter the strawberries – this makes them go further and allows their flavors to mingle. Place them in your punch bowl.
Add cranberry juice and the wine to the bowl. Then mix in the cooled green tea syrup. Add ice. Decorate with a little grated or slivered citrus rind and mint leaves. Enjoy!
Delicious, healthy and festive. Of course, even more healthy made with Wu-Yi Tea.
